George and Lennie are similar to Candy and his dog because even though George and Candy are being held back from their friend of a long time they will not leave them. They do this because they have been through a lot with their friend and wouldnt have nothing without them, they would have to start over. Even if leaving them was for the better they would have to grieve over the loss before they could move on. Even then a peice of them would be misisng without either of their friends.
Mice and Men
Belonging means fitting in and having eachothers back. Being able to do something without having to second guess yourself whether or not your gonna get pushed away. Its important because without having family or friends a guy has nothing even if he has anything else he could think of he still doesn’t have a place he truly belongs. That connects to Lennie and George because without eachother they would both be drifters there whole life, they wouldnt be looking forward to what they will have together.
Limetown Hysteria
Hysteria was shown in Limetown Episode 5 because the old school possy got jealous of the new school possy because they had the Tech and they couldn’t get it. This leads to the panic because a member of the old school got the Tech secretly. This made everyone want it and it eventually got out of hand even though the Tech made the new schools peoples lives suck. They tried to tell them but being so enraged they did not care to listen and destroyed everything and even killed people because of their rage. The old school possy completely lost control of themselves and only the new school members understand how stupid they were for doing it.
Independent Book Blog
The book “The Hunted” is a overall good book. The book is about these people with a vaccine to cure this diesease that a billion dollar company made. Everything is destroyed and everyone is turning against eachother. Being that the characters had lives outside of this, it could make it hard on whats to come. In this book there is really no way of knowing whats going to happen next and that hooks a reader. The characters are really interesting because they could all be having a bad day then the next they are all getting along perfectly fine so they really got to think about what they say to eachother before they say it.
I think that Marcus isn’t really game for the journey ahead of trying to get the vaccine to the scientists because in the last challenges that they have faced Marcus has either backed down or he would hide from it. Shoeshine on the otherhand is the leader and therefore kind of the guy to get them out of bad situations and I think Shy gets a little jealous of it because he likes Carmen even though Carmen has a husband and wants to find him. This book has multiple things going on and it feels like when one crashes more will follow behind.

The Hunted – Freedom
In this book freedom is a idea that is not shown because the world they are living in is not a good place. It is shown by a diesease that is infecting and killing many people and now there are zones and gangs taking over parts of cities to make sure no outsider comes in and gives them the diesease even if it means killing anyone that they do not know. It could be the fact of not having enough equal freedom or people having too much freedom because it is every man for himself and there is no way to stop it until this team of people get the vaccine to the right scientists.
I’d say another theme in the book The Hunted is teamwork. A good reason for me to say it is tamwork is because they all are working together to accomplish something they want. Another important factor in why teamwork is important is because they are the only people in the world that knows there is a vaccine for this disease, they just need to get it to the right scientists. On the way they are going to have to overcome many challeneges especially because people are killing each other.

Internet seperation
Technology brings us farther away from eachother because we could be thousands of miles away to talk to someone without even seeing them. With technology it means that people no longer need to hang out to talk or catch up they could do it over the phone in a less meaningful way.
Chapter about fathers
I feel that this chapter shows us and Zit’s that his dad did not have a great experience with his dad. This leads to Zits’s dad feeling like a lowlife and when his wife was about to give birth he ran because he did not want to turn into his father and that Zits might be better off without him. He felt like he might be doing whats better for Zits but Zits was lost all his life without him or his mother but I think Zits can now understand why his father did what he did.
Challenged books
I don’t think I’ve been exposed to or read any books that have been challenged because most of the books I have read have been nonfiction or autobiography books. I wouldn’t think that those would have been banned because those are real events that have taken place and are there to inform readers or tell their stories. The book Flight could have possibly been thought about getting banned cause it talks about Abbad being a terrorist and it says some slurs that are targeted toward certain people. I don’t really think that there are issues with the books for teens because I feel that we are old enough and mature enough to read it.

Revenge is a big part of Zits life and the lives of other people that he is living. ” I remember in another life I killed people like this” (Alexie 72). He says this because he killed innocent people to take revenge and bring his parents back even though it would never have worked. “My father tosses the kid on the ground and steps on him” (Alexie 74). Zits was living the life of a young Indian boy who would have to cut the throat of a young white soldier because the young Indian boy had his voice taken away because he got his throat slit in battle. “God’s final punishment for me” (Alexie 93). Zits says this because he believed god would no longer punish him for what he has done but he was wrong.

Why We Must Embrace the Emotional Lives of Teenagers

“I feel anxious, I feel upset, I feel angry, I feel frustrated,”
Zits is a foster child so he knows what it feels like to be all these things. His dad left him and his mother when he was born and his mom died when he was six years old. Being moved around from foster to foster brings new people and new emotions towards those people. Teenagers are vulnerable to these situations because they have much riding on their shoulders between school, work, and whatever else they do.
Background
Long-term Effects of Losing a Parent as a Teenager

“One study available in the National Library of Medicine found that losing a parent can increase a teen’s risk for developing long-term mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and substance use disorder”.
Zits can relate to these teens because he lost both of his parents and has felt many different emotions because of not having anybody in his life that he knows. Zits has had different emotions like these because he had no other family that could truly help and love him. Being that Zits had to meet a lot of new people that could create anxiety. Teens today are feeling more and more towards substance use disorder like Zits was because it is very easy to get especially at the age of a teenager.
Violence

“Similar to other crime victims, homicide survivors may contend with economic stressors, stigmatization, fear of recurrence, anxiety when encountering reminders of the event, and negative beliefs about themselves and the world”.
Zits can easily relate to other people who have had this because when Justice reminded him of the Ghost Dance and asked if he believed in it that brought a reminder of what had happened to his parents and how he could try and bring them back. Teens that have lost even one parent, they could feel different emotions towards things or people that will only hurt others. Zits went into the bank and shot innocent people to try to bring his two parents back. He ruined multiple people’s lives so he could make himself feel better.
Differences
Emotions
Experiencing Grief as a Teenager

“Our emotions are a communication tool. They let the other people know how we feel and help us get our needs met.”
Zits is different than most teenagers from when he lost his parents. He had the same emotions he just didn’t have anybody else that he felt he could talk to. Most teens today have more relatives that can pay attention to them so they won’t feel the things that Zits felt for his whole life. Zits was surrounded by people that he did not know or felt safe near them so he had many built-up emotions at a young age they just stayed with him because he didn’t know how to get rid of it.
Background
What Happens to Minor Children if Their Parents Die?https://www.riluslaw.com/blog/what-happens-to-minor-children-if-their-parents-die
“Losing a parent can be traumatic, even if the child is not extremely close to the parent”.
Zits never had a relationship with his dad but most teens who had a dad run off on them before they were born would hate them. Zits is so lost that he wonders what his dad would be like. When he transformed into an Indian boy he felt loved by his dad. Teens that would be in his shoes would not feel this way because they have somebody else in their life.
Violence

- “Thus, it is unsurprising that a range of long-term adverse outcomes has been reported following exposure to parental death during childhood, including: Onset of depression”.
Zits lost both of his parents like many other teens but other teens usually don’t act out with violence towards other people. Zits took away the innocent lives of strangers for a reason that would make him feel whole. Teens are usually depressed for many years and conflict self-harm to them when they have nowhere to go. Zits had opportunities with other families and he denied them because he was lost when other teens would feel grateful to have that.
